Erica L. Weiss is a new play director and dramaturg. In her freelance new play development work, she contracts under the title of The Playwright Whisperer. Erica was the founding Artistic Director of Hypatia Theatre Company, now The Hypatia Project, a theatrical partnership between herself and playwright Caitlin Montanye Parrish. During HTC’s run, Weiss directed the world premieres of Lost Love by Peter Papadopoulos, Parrish's Red Georgia Clay and Florida Styx. With Parrish, she co-created Alice In Circles, and directed 2 workshops of the piece. She has worked with many Chicago theatre companies, including American Theater Company, Northlight Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, Speaking Ring Theatre, The Ruckus, MPAACT, and Victory Gardens, where she recently dramaturged the world premiere of Kristoffer Diaz’s The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Diety. She is delighted to be a part of Route 66.
